Portfolio & Art Boxes
ART SUPPLIES (1st-6th)
BASIC ART SUPPLY LIST- Please make sure EACH of the following items is labeled clearly with
Student Name & Grade and brought to each Art Class.
A large part of the student grade in Art is organization of supplies.
STUDENT PORTFOLIO Each student will be required to turn in a portfolio.The portfolio will house all the student work for the year and be taken home at the end of the year. This will help students be orderly and give easy access to students art. Students art will be displayed in school and each student will be able to participate regularly. Portfolios tend to be expensive but can be made at very little cost. HOW TO
MAKE A PORTFOLIO Supplies: Poster board 22x28”, Masking Tape Fold poster board, Tape sides shut, label portfolio with student Name First/Last Name & grade.

- (2) #2 Pencils sharpened no mechanical
- Colored Pencils (Crayola Pack of 8)
- Ruler
- Sketch pad (Grades 4-6) 8.5x11 or smaller

Eco Art Supply Drive
ART & ECOLOGY Art projects do not have to be elaborate or complicated to produce benefits. Even the simplest ones can have profound effects. Younger children need gluing experiences to learn dexterity and the proper amount of glue. In this way they learn to respect materials and to use them wisely. Common materials and “throw-aways” found in the home can be useful. Children can learn that, instead of throwing away a “mistake,” to rework it, producing something different than planned, often with surprising and pleasing results. “Useless” items can be redeemed and can challenge thinking into a creative venture.
ECOLOGICAL ART SUPPLY DRIVE: Below is an extensive list of ecological art supplies that will be needed throughout the year. Remember that storage is limited and the curriculum is planned out for the most part these supplies will go to decorate the school and be staples on to bulletin boards, please bag in a clear plastic “baggie.” Please no fabrics or bulky items unless they are small and thin enough to fit in a baggie and can be stapled on to a bulletin board.

3. Unused party napkins (for those last few napkins in the pack)
4. Any kind of crystal or gem
5. Greeting cards (please trim the front off and bag in a baggie)
6. Washed egg cartons (the bottoms only please)

8. Dried seeds in baggies (pumpkin, Apple, Cantelope)
9. Glitter (bagged)
10. Seed Beads (bagged)
11. Beads (bagged)
12. Paint brushes (in excellent condition)
13. Stamps
14. Stencils
15. Paper punches
16. Fancy scissors
17. SMALL Shoe boxes (with staples or paper removed)
18. Unused wrapping paper (on a roll or cut an folded neatly)
19. Plastic shopping bags
20. Paper shopping bags bottoms cut off and folded neatly

Exciting Times!
I have been through a year of lots of work in a full time job outside of my area of study working as a medical assistant.
In addition to the medical office job, I taught classes at a Home School Connection, The Town of Jupiter, freelance Graphic Designer, & Mural Artist. This year I was able to be in an art show and set up a mini studio in my home- which I am still working on little by little.
Outside of those work related things I have also tried to be involved in helping a wonderful cause based here in Jupiter FL CARELINK International. This is a clinic that helps those who can not afford medical care, the doctors and medical providers/ staff donate their time for this worthy cause.

I have recently taken a job as an Art/Spanish teacher at a local private school. I am so excited about the opportunity to do what I love as a vocation.
Currently I am setting up my classroom with the help of the Art Director at Jupiter Christian School.
Lately I have been researching curriculum, supplies, Art competitions, classroom tools fundraisers, etc...
So far I have decided on my Curriculum for Art:
The Spears Art Studio Curriculum K-8th Grades. The nice thing about the curriculum is that it has a guide to supplies and ordering, so I can figure out a general idea of what supplies will cost for the year.
Curriculum supplements:
Magazines-I have looked at the Scholastic Arts Magazine, which is super interesting!
Memberships:
I signed up for the FAEA membership Florida Art Education Association
and will receive the Fresh paint quarterly newsletter with the enrollment.

I will be attending the FAEA Conference which I am super excited about!
At the conference I will be able to get acquainted with all the industry tools!

This company provides paper for students to create works of art, then ship out in provided folders, later students receive a personalized magazine with their very own art work on the products in the catalogue.
Students can then order all kinds of items like, mugs, keychains, quilt squares, mouse pads, coasters, you name it they have it. the really neat thing is that the school will receive 30% of procedes!
The great thing about the program is that everything is very competitively priced.
Projects:

I hope to have a tile wall unveil and a school art show at some point.

Year in Review, Highlights, Struggles and Future Goals
Six months ago I started documenting my Art classes and projects from the past year.
This has been a hectic year but as I look back over all the postings it is great to see progress in my students and also opportunities to complete some pieces of my own.
The past 6 months have flown by!
The challenges: balancing a full time schedule working at The Lung Institute as a Medical Assistant, Freelance Graphic/Web Design, Graphics for Missions Organizations, Teaching 4 tutorials & classes at Grace Homeschool Connection, and teaching Elementary Art Classes at the Town of Jupiter!
The highlights have been being able to participate in the Town of Jupiter Art show and mural paintings. Classes have been wonderful and students are having a great time. I have also recently sold my furniture
in the spare room and am putting together a mini studio, which is currently in use for private lessons!
The future-
Good news! I have been hired as a teacher full time at a local private school where I will be teaching Art!!
This fall I will be able to add a beginners Classical Drawing Class for Adultsat the Town of Jupiter. I am hopeful that my Miniature Acrylic Class will fill at Palm Beach Gardens Parks and Recreation Department.
