Spanish Tile Wall Art

This Spanish tile project was a fun cultural project that the students really loved! The tiles are school colors.
Spanish tile will never go out of style here in South Florida.

I designed the middle piece and rewarded hard workers by letting them color the piece.
I was impressed by the interesting designs, & focus of the students!
Students can't wait to order tiles for our wall with the Art/Spanish advocacy program.
I enjoyed seeing the staff get involved and the School spirit during this creative process.          Teachers and our nurse were a huge help to set this project up and they were enthusiastic to help with this advocacy project.THANK YOU!!

Fairchild Gardens Miami

If you are looking for a different activity this weekend check out Miami's Fairchild Gardens. I highly recommend spending a day at the gardens!

http://www.fairchildgarden.org/

Artists this is a wonderful place to gather reference photos and be inspired! Victor and I took the tram tour had lunch then walked all day snapping photos along the way.

This garden is the nicest we have seen!

Victor insisted on taking this picture, this is huge!
Everywhere you look there is amazing scenery
I have never seen this before!

This looks like the garden of Eden!
Victor checking out the fruit!
These were growing on sides of trees
paradise?
Victor said this is a hula tree.

This one looks fake!
The garden is really large so there are no crowds to fight and always something to see! Victor keeps talking about returning for the mango festival... Ahhh you can't separate this indian from his mangos!

En plein air today at Grassy Waters

This is the first time I have painted outside, it was a lot of fun and very relaxing, I wish I could go every week, but was invited to work in a local studio Co-Op on Saturdays, with a local Oil painter, I am pretty excited to get started!

Bollywood!

I wish that I would have done this one larger and that I could have it printed on fabric, that would look pretty neat.
This design is based off of Hindi Characters and peacock feathers.

Pinas Painting

Can you tell I was listening to Salsa music?

I have always told myself that I would like to take photos of each stage of my paintings, but the reality is that when I paint I don't want to be disturbed for anything at all sometimes, up to 7 hours or so. So let's see if I actually follow through this time...

The technique will match my new favorite style that I used on this Banana.

I have the background completed for my pineapple painting, I hope to use a new technique that uses LOTS of paint and very loose brush strokes, the placement of the strokes and color will be very important in this piece. This style is very intuitive and takes a lot of concentration, but usually moves quite quickly, which is great because I like to work quickly.

I love to see paint applied very thick on the canvas, the most annoying thing to me is to see the canvas through the work, unless of course the white of the canvas is being used as the background as in Asian Art.

I guess I have to stop since I ran out of paint AGAIN!
I hope this dries fast so I can keep working!
