This is a watercolor paining from the Elementary Art Class at the Town of Jupiter. This class tends to be interesting as the ages are anywhere from 4 years to 12 so I usually choose simple projects like this Chinese Bamboo Painting.
I used some paper remnants given to me by Sir Speedy Tequesta and it worked very nicely as you can see.
Students first drew bamboo with markers then wet paper with a bamboo brush and painted the scene. At the end of class we had some extra time to draw designs in the borders (after the tape was removed.)
I introduced a phrase or 2 in mandarin, the tones, and taught students to count to 10 in mandarin.
Each time I ask which project is the favorite project student most often choose the chinese art projects!
