Homes of the Future

Students were told to create a dream house of the future. Students were supposed to make their ideal home. There were some creative ideas:

 The teepee was very creative!

This one wasn't finished but I had to include it:

Forests for Humans Winners!!!

I was very happy to receive this fax to announce that Lake Park Baptist School has taken 7 of the 12 awards for the Forests for Humans at the South Florida Fair!
Contests are lots of work but really worth the effort! The students did such a great job I was really proud of them. Some of the art didn't make it to the contest as forms weren't filled out but I really can't pass over the creativity of the students.

I love children's Art

Children's art is always so ridiculously happy! This student told me that the angel is looking over the Garden of Eden. How cute is that?!

My all time favorite: Strawberry Trees:

I still can't believe that a 4 year old student did this tiger! It probably helps that his mom is an Artist.

This particular 5 year old has such interesting colorful artwork!
He has an understanding of color at 5 years old!

Four year old colorful art:

You have to smile when you see the work of this 1st grade student:

A 4 year old student's drawing of a mommy elephant and baby

Interesting interpretations from a very quiet four year old, this is a horse.
It is so interesting to see the students work hard and enjoy their work.

Photo Canvases

This year once again, we couldn't decide what to gift each other for Christmas so we decided to invest in creativity. I don't like to spend an arm and a leg for commercial art that is someone else's work.

So I went through our travel photos and chose two pieces Victor's work often surprises me as he has had no Art training yet in my opinion has a naturally creative mind, I am often downright shocked by his creative intuition. I have known artists that don't have a fraction of the creative discernment that Victor has. Victor often helps me out when I am  "stuck" on a project, his insights are remarkable I always hold his opinion in high regard.

This photo was my personal favorite of his work, he had so many pieces it was really hard to choose, I wish I could say the same about mine!  "The Thistle" was taken in North Carolina this trip was also a great memory as we had seen so many old friends and spent time with family and relaxed after a very busy season of life. Victor has a way of seeing value in the everyday his take on this thistle was quite unique.

 Mine is "The Sea Grape"
The Sea Grape was taken on a lazy Saturday Victor and I hadn't done much all day but enjoy each others company and relax with Georgi on Jupiter Island. We went for a walk and I insisted that Victor bring the camera as he always says "man I wish I had my camera." So this is just a really great memory that we had of a lazy day together.

Showcase of Excellence

Our school will be hosting a Showcase of Excellence this January.  I am busy meeting, brainstorming and working to advocate for the Arts at our private school.

We will be having a sidewalk chalk competition and displaying student Chinese Art around campus.

Also if the folowing project is approved: I will be working with 2 professional artists to complete a "Windows to the World" hall mural display featuring a variety of countries. We hope to increase student awareness of Geography, Culture, and Art.

I would like to try to have some sand paintings for students to participate in.

I hope that I can properly dye some beach sand for the Rangoli Sand Paintings.

The Star K4-5

This is the Pre-School Project:
Students learned about the Christmas Star and how the Wisemen knew to look for the Star and traveled a long way to reach the place that Jesus was born.

This piece is to teach students about color and variety.

Students were instructed to find the star which was a small feat for 4 & 5 year olds.
Then they colored the star yellow and orange.

Students were given crayons in order 2 purples first and the goal is that the same 2 colors should not touch.
When they finish one color they work out 1 color at a time being careful not to touch the same 2 colors together.

This was a difficult concept at first but they understood and were able to figure out what color should go where.

The Art Room in December

The Van Gogh Brush Competition is going on all year and is an incentive for students to behave well and work extra hard in Art Class.

They have a chance to use the easel and paints so they are really excited to see who wins the contest.

Winter Hallway Bulletin Boards

This winter came so quickly I had to think fast about what to put on the boards.
