Fall Leaves: Dabbling in Pointallism

We started class by talking about seasonal projects and our key verse was:
Genesis 8:22While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.

We talked about colors of Fall. The I explained pointillism and color mixing.
After an intro to the project we went outside to  learn about light and shadow as well as colors in nature.
We talked about how one leaf can appear so differently depending on light and shadow.
We noted how shadows in distance and blurry then stark up close.

We also used a sighting technique that most professional artists us to pick out highlights, midtone and shadow. Each student was able to see the variety of color by simply squinting their eyes.

After our walk we went inside to begin our project.
